Biography: Agnieszka Rawa is Millennium Challenge Corporation’s (MCC’s) Managing Director leading a strategic $21.8 million partnership, Data Collaboratives for Local Impact, with the State Department's Office of Global Aids Coordinator – and in collaboration with the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data,  to strengthen country-level capacity, engagement, and commitment to analyze, share and use data including open data to enable more sustainable development outcomes.

Ms. Rawa joined MCC in 2009. Before her current position, she was Managing Director for Africa in the Department of Compact Operations. In this role she oversaw the development of investments worth more than $2 billion in Ghana, Lesotho, Liberia, Morocco, Niger, Tanzania and Sierra Leone involving infrastructure and complementary policy and institutional reform in the power, water and sanitation, health, education, agricultural irrigation, and transportation sectors. She also was MCC’s Managing Director for Compact Development and Implementation for West Africa, and previously she was Director of Environmental and Social Assessment on the Morocco Fruit Tree Project, the Lesotho Compact and the El Salvador Compact.

Before joining MCC, Ms. Rawa had 16 years of predominantly private sector-led international development experience in a variety of roles including that of partner in a global consulting firm where she worked in socio-environmentally sensitive regions in South America, the Middle East and North Africa and the Southern Africa Region. She has led the environmental, social, health and safety components of projects; managed teams involved in siting, planning and implementation of complex infrastructure projects in energy, mining, transportation and telecommunications; conducted strategic engagement with local communities, international donors, regulatory authorities and not-for-profits; and conceptualized sustainable development strategies.

Ms. Rawa is a graduate of Stanford University and a recipient of the Donella Meadows Sustainability Fellowship. She is fluent in English, French, Spanish, and Polish. Ms. Rawa’s passion for development began in Morocco, where she spent 15 years of her childhood.
