Biography: As Communications and Advocacy Manager at the Web Foundation, Kristen drives campaigns on the Foundation's open data, gender and digital rights work. She led the advocacy and communications around the Foundation's inaugural Women's Rights Online report and the 3rd edition of the Open Data Barometer. She is a member of the informal Open Heroines network which seeks to advance and promote women and their work in the area of open government, open data and civic tech.

Prior to joining the Web Foundation, she worked at Portland Communications where she advised the Mo Ibrahim Foundation, the Africa Progress Panel and BCG's Centre for Public Impact, among others. She also advised a number of governments on creating or reforming their central communications, media and public information agencies with an emphasis on digital diplomacy and public affairs.
