Biography: Bhanupriya Rao is an independent researcher and  creator of the Web based project Gender in Politics < http://genderinpolitics.org/>: a project that tracks women in politics and governance in India.
Previously she has worked with the Worldwide Web Foundation on coordinating research on open data impact as part of the Open Data in Developing Countries Project and Open Data Barometer. She has been working on issues on transparency and Accountability in governance with several non-profits such as ActionAid, Oxfam, the Right to Food and Right to Information Movement.
