Title proposal: FIWARE: unleashing the potential of real-time open data
 
Biography:  Chief Technologist at Telefónica I+D (R&D Lab) and FIWARE  Coordinator & Chief Architect.
Juanjo Hierro is CTO of the Unit in charge of the development of Telefonica's IoT and Smart Cities platform. This role is combined with his position as Coordinator and Chief Architect of FIWARE, the open platform supported by the public and private partnership between the European Commission and several ICT players worldwide. His leading role in several open source projects and open source initiatives has allowed him to gain a deep understanding about the open source phenomena and the implications/challenges of creating an open source community. He has participated as invited expert in several workshops and workgroups organized by the European Commission regarding the technological objectives of the EU Research Framework Program. He is also a member of several Advisory Councils, such as the IMDEA Software Institute of Madrid and the Spanish node of ICT Labs.
